Maxine Daley

Maxine has made a significant contribution to the Australian Alpaca Association at both a regional and national level, her membership spans 16 years.

Maxine Daley was a AAA member prior to the formation of the Queensland Region and then a foundation member of the South Queensland & Northern NSW region since its inception in 1995. During that year she assisted with the inaugural alpaca judging at Beaudesert Show.

In 1997 Maxine was responsible for the Membership Drive and in 1998 she was Chair of the Show Subcommittee. From 2000 – 2008 she was an active member of the regional committee. Then from 2009 – 2011 she held the position of Treasurer and she has also held the position of Equipment Officer for the committee.

Maxine and her family have always been heavily involved in the farming and promotion of alpacas. In the earlier years, the family farm was frequently made available for education visits by community clubs such as Probus, Lions, Spinners & Weavers and various Retirement homes.

Prior to the region having sufficient funds to operate independently, Maxine purchased alpaca products and supplied display equipment for industry promotional purposes at a large number of agricultural shows such as Beaudesert Parade of 1000 Hooves, Australia Day Picnic In The Park, Brisbane Pet & Animal Expo, AgEd and various schools.

Maxine Daley of Parrakoola Park Stud was frequently a successful exhibitor and support of local shows with both fleece and animals. She regularly offered her services as Steward at various shows and was the Convenor of the Gold Coast Show for many years.

Maxine could always be counted on to assist when a guest speaker was required at an alpaca breeder workshop and various community groups.

Although Maxine resigned from her role as Treasuer of the region in July 2011, her assistance is still sought and offered when and as required.

Maxine has always been a fabulous ambassador for the Australian Alpaca Association; she has strongly promoted alpacas and the alpaca industry. Maxine has been one of the ‘quiet achievers’ for the Region, her dedication has extended over many years.
