Alpaca Awareness Weekend - What it's all about?

Alpaca Awareness Weekend, 12-13 May 2018 is an educational initiative of the South Queensland and Northern NSW Region of the Australian Alpaca Association Ltd. It focuses on all that is fascinating and luxurious about these endearing animals and the advancements making Australia a world leader in the industry.

"Alpaca Awareness Weekend 2018 is the ideal opportunity for anyone thinking seriously about owning alpacas, or just interested in finding out more by taking part in the range of events on offer" says Michelle Malt, Regional Marketing Officer.

During Alpaca Awareness Weekend a number of farms throughout the region will be hosting open days, educational events and opportunities for potential breeders to learn more about Australian Alpaca. Queueing in the lane

Welcome to Kallaroo Alpaca. On show will be mothers and their babies, called crias. Kids, you can lead our favorite boy Comet. He is very quiet and loves cuddles. Enjoy a sausage sandwich while Mum and Dad can have a coffee and yummy slices.

Tucker time

Feel the difference in different fleeces and colours and pick out a yarn for mum to knit you a jumper.

Learn about looking after alpacas at your place and the things you have to do to keep them healthy and happy.

Alpaca Group

Watch ladies spin the fleece to make a large range of garments, which will be for sale.

Meeting the herd

I also have Guinea fowls to keep the ticks away from your paddocks.

These terrific animals are fun to learn, breed.
